چکیده

The IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) was standardised by the IETF ROLL Working Group to address routing issues in Internet of Things (IoT) (LLNs). RPL builds maintains a Destination Oriented Directed Acyclic Graph (DODAG) topology using pieces information propagated within DODAG Information Object (DIO) control message. When node intends join DODAG, it either waits DIO or sends Solicitation (DIS) message Multicast solicit DIOs from nearby nodes. Nevertheless, sending DIS messages resets timer that regulates transmission rate its minimum value, which leads network’s congestion with messages. Because resource-constrained nature RPL-LLNs, lack tamper resistance, security gaps RPL, malicious nodes can exploit solicitation mechanism trigger an RPL-specification-based attack, named attack. attack have severe consequences on networks, especially packets overhead power consumption. In this paper, we use Cooja–Contiki simulator assess attack’s effects both static dynamic PRL networks. Besides, propose implement novel approach, namely RPL-MRC, improve RPL’s resilience against Multicast. RPL-MRC aims reduce response Simulation results demonstrate how could damage network performance significantly increasing On other hand, proposed shows significant enhancement reducing consumption different scenarios.

Simple Agile RPL Multicast (SARCAST)

Denial of Service (DoS) attacks serve to diminish the ability of the network to perform its intended function over time. As DoS attacks may permeate the veil of the Internet of Things (IoT) devices from the broader internet, it is vital that these devices are able to mitigate these attacks. If such a network of IoT devices were to fail during time of need, lives of patients, war fighters, or th...

IPv6 Multicast Forwarding in RPL-Based Wireless Sensor Networks

In wireless sensor deployments, network layer multicast can be used to improve the bandwidth and energy efficiency for a variety of applications, such as service discovery or network management. However, despite efforts to adopt IPv6 in networks of constrained devices, multicast has been somewhat overlooked. The Multicast Forwarding Using Trickle (Trickle Multicast) internet draft is one of the...

Extending the RPL Routing Protocol to Agricultural Low Power and Lossy Networks (A-LLNs)

The routing protocol for low power and lossy network (RPL) started to be designed by the ROLL working group of IETF since the year of 2008. Until the RFC6550 was released, this standard with its routing algorithms and four application scenarios, such as home and building automation, industrial control, and urban environment, have been grounded. As a main jigsaw of the paradigm of the Internet o...

Low Power RPL for Internet of Things (IoT)

Internet of Things (IoT) has the potential to improve the way we interact with things. IoT envisions the idea of universal connectivity of everything which is defined as the global network of uniquely identifiable and addressable smart things posing the capability to interact and communicate with other smart things. Every smart object consists of a microprocessor, transceiver module, a sensor a...

Misbehaving Attack Mitigation Technique for Multicast Security in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (manet)

Node misbehavior problems have received increased attention in multicasting in Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET). The misbehaving nodes can be either selfish or malicious nodes. The main goal of the malicious nodes is to intentionally interrupt the network using various attacks. Hence it is essential to develop a mitigation technique against misbehaving attacks. In this paper, we propose a misbeha...
